RMRBank (WM)      Accounts Program

Winner of the NSBasic 2003 Programming Competition

RMRBank is probably one of the most comprehensive accounts program available for the Windows Mobile series of platforms. As well as the usual functions of Transaction storing and statement reconciling, Archiving, Standing Orders/Direct Debits and Categories, it also has full multi-currency support, full Quicken/MSMoney interoperability, optional password protection, filters and find modes.

See below for the enhancements in V1.2, V1.3, V1.4, V1.5, V1.6, V2.0 & V2.1.

Use on older machines.   With the majority of machines now running PPC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 I have withdrawn the versions that used to run on PPC2002, MIPS and SH3 processors.  However, they are still available, so just contact us if you need them.

Note:  If you are upgrading from the EPOC version of RMRBank, you can export transactions data and archive data as QIF files and then re-import them into RMRBank (WM).  (Note that the WM version of RMRBank does not contain the individual modules, but has links to the equivalent standalone WM programs to give the same functionality.)

Enhancements in V1.2

As well as fixing all the known bugs in V1.1, this version offers the following enhancements:

The width of the screen columns is now configurable, to allow you to customise the screen display.

A "Look Ahead" mode to enable you to see the state of your finances sometime in the future, taking into account deferred transactions and Direct Debits/Standing Orders.

A date filter has to be added to the Archive/Remove transactions, to increase its flexibility.

The "View" menu will now allow you to jump quickly to any linked RMR programs such as RMRFuel, RMRExpenses and RMRInvest.

The Filter option can now be used in the Transaction screen and has an additional date filter option.

The idea of a secondary currency has been added, so that if you are in a different country and will spend some time always entering a different currency, you can set it as the default.

The Backup folder has been moved from \Program Files\RMRBank\ to \My Documents\RMRBackups\.   (It was quite correctly pointed out to us that if you did a hard reset, or the machine failed, then you lost the backup as well.  This way, provided you select it in ActiveSync, a copy will be stored on your PC every time you sync the machine.)

V1.3 has the following changes:

• It now uses the familiar 'checkbook' icon instead of the NSBasic one.  We know this is just cosmetic but it does make the program look better :-)
• A Pay Bills option, as used in Quicken, has been implemented.  This allows you to action future Transactions (Direct Debits/Standing Orders) before they actually occur.
• A new Tax option has been added so that you can allocate a tax rate to transactions and then change the display to indicate Tax/Gross/Net values.
• Accounts now have an additional "Reference" field for any additional information you may wish to add.
• The Archive screen bottom line will now toggle between "Archive total" and "Number of Entries".
• More RMR program shortcuts have been added to the View menu.
• The Backup system has been amended slightly.  Although it worked perfectly on the machine we found that Active Sync did not transfer it properly to the PC, so we have added a date/time stamp to the backup folder so it is transferred correctly.
• The Import routine amended again to cope with yet another 'loose' interpretation of the Quicken Interchange Format".
• A new professional-looking PDF manual has been produced.

V1.4 has the following changes:

• An "Auto-Backup" has been implemented so you can get the program to automatically do a backup every day/week/month.
• You now specify where the Backups should be stored (Main memory, or an external media).
• You can now have multiple Category Groups, so that Account Groups can use different Category groups.
• The Category screen is now 'paged' in the same way as the Transaction and Archive screen, so that users with a large number of categories do not need to wait a long time for them to display.
• The Middle Column of the Transaction screen has 3 additional options. It can display the entry number or in the case of a transferred transaction, the other account, or the value (normally shown in the last column) if you have the running balance in the last column.
• The "Action Now" option for Future Transactions/Direct Debits/Standing Orders now allow you to use either the date on the entry or the date of actioning.
• The Filter option now includes the amount as filtering option.
• In the Account drop down selector in the Transaction screen the Groups are added to the bottom so that you can easily switch groups from within that screen.
• You can now have "Variable Value" Future Transactions/Direct Debits/Standing Orders  where you specify the value when it is actioned.
• The Archive folder can be set to an external media card.
• A "Running Balance" option has been added to the display so you can select the running balance for the last column (and probably move the value to the middle column). In addition, the Total button now also toggles to Running Balance for the highlighted entry.

V1.5  introduced PPC 2003 compatibility.  (1.5a and 1.5b fixed some bugs)

V1.5c added

• A currency converter.
• The option to enter the Transactions screen during Look Ahead.
• Better handling of the RMRInvest link.

V1.6 added an Account filter in the Archive screen.

V2.0 added full support for Landscape mode.

V2.1 added support for Square (240x240) mode.

Don't forget - if you like RMRBank (WM) and want to keep on using it, you must register it. Instructions are in the program's 'Readme.txt' file and Help, but if you want to register right now, then you can do so on-line at RegNet, this will cost you US$30 + US$5 Handling.
